What's available onsite?
Separate changing rooms, showers, keyless lockers for your belongings.
Water and tea are provided, a few extra refreshments are available to purchase.
What if I identify as trans or non-binary?
Trans, gender queer, and non-binary bathers are welcome to use whichever locker room they are most comfortable in. If you have further questions, please send us an email hi@sinkbathhouse.co.nz
Can I bring food or drink?
No outside food or drink. We have refreshments available to purchase + tea inside. Water bottles are ok, no glass.
Do I need to book?
Yes. Sessions are bookable through our app or online through our website. Walk ins are allowed, however to avoid disappointment we recommend booking in advance
How long is a session?
Sessions are 90 minutes.
Do I need to arrive on time?
You have a 90 minute window from when you've booked. It's ok to arrive a bit late, or leave early.
Is it guided?
There's no set sequence or instruction. It's entirely on your own terms. Move through the space however feels right for you. Monitor how you feel, hydrate and take breaks regularly.
There's no right way to move through our space, but if you're new to hot/cold contrast, here's a simple rhythm to try:
- Shower before your first sauna round
- Sauna, 5–15 minutes
- Rinse off
- Cold pool, 1–5 minutes
- Warm pool, 5–15 minutes
- Rest on the heated bench with a cup of tea
- A quick cold dip
- Back to the sauna, and repeat as you like
Listen to your body throughout, and stop or sit out any stage that doesn't feel right for you.
How are the pools treated?
Our pools are mineral-salt systems — magnesium and potassium rather than plain chlorine with UV/AOP treatment for extra clarity. They don’t have a smell, and the water feels soft on skin.
Is it social or quiet?
Conversation is welcome — please be considerate of others.
Is it mixed gender?
Yes. All sessions are mixed.
What should I wear in the sauna?
Clean swimwear is required in the sauna and pools.
Is there a nude option?
Swimwear is required at all times in all areas.
Can I come with a group?
All bookings must be made via our website/app. It's possible you may be able to come with a small group depending on availability — try your luck when you book.
Email hi@sinkbathhouse.co.nz to discuss hiring the space for a private event.
Can I pour water on the rocks?
Our staff manage this throughout each session to keep the temperature and humidity balanced for everyone in the room. Just sit back and enjoy your session.
Do you use essential oils?
Our sauna is cedar, which has a beautiful natural scent of its own — we don't add any fragrance to the water on the rocks.
What are listening sessions?
Sessions built around a specific listening experience — this might be a curated album played start to finish, a live artist, or another curated auditory experience. These will be clearly labeled in the timetable.
We encourage quiet during these sessions — we invite you to settle in and listen.
What are DJ sessions?
A live DJ set played through the space. These are listed by name in the timetable.
These sessions are social by nature — conversation, energy, and connecting with other guests are all part of the experience.
Age restrictions?
Sink is open to guests aged 18+. If you're 16 or 17, you're welcome to visit with a parent or guardian — they'll need to be with you for your full session. Please email us hi@sinkbathhouse.co.nz
Is Sink accessible?
We don't currently have assisted-access equipment or a pool hoist. If you need physical assistance to enter or exit the pools or sauna, please bring your own support person. Get in touch beforehand at hi@sinkbathhouse.co.nz and we'll talk through how we can accommodate you.
Can I use the sauna if I'm pregnant?
As with any medical condition, it's your responsibility to assess your own suitability — please consult your healthcare provider beforehand.
Is there parking?
There is limited street parking available. If you are planning to drive we recommend allowing time prior to your booking to find available parking. Please pay attention to all street parking signs, particularly permit zones, clearway, and tow away zones. There is no parking down our driveway, this belongs to other tenancies.
There are bike racks across the road and a bus stop nearby on Park Road.
